Colombia ‘s largest rebel group FARC Tuesday announced they regret the massacre of eight Awá indigenous people in February.
On the rebels’ website, the FARC published a letter to indigenous authorities, saying a massacre like the one they committed or anything similar may never happen again.
The FARC say they appointed three of their commanders to sit down with Awá leaders and discuss “mutual respect and understanding to finally close the door to any manifestation of violence in our relation.”
The guerrillas earlier admitted to the murders, stating the victims had collaborated with the Colombian army. Both the army and indigenous organizations denied any cooperation.
