Colombia’s largest rebel group FARC said “no, thank you very much” to the government condition to cease violence for peace talks to take place.
In a press release, published on Sunday on the Sweden-based website of Anncol, the central command of the guerrillas told the Colombian government, “drunk of triumphalism … the same words as the (recently killed) commander “Jorge Briceño” (alias “Mono Jojoy”) told retired General (Freddy) Padilla de Leon in January 2010 … “No, thank you very much.”
The FARC say they “will not give up after 40 years of struggle, or accept a false peace.”
However, the FARC also said that “Colombia needs to find the paths that lead to ending this war between brothers, paths of reconciliation that will lead to a peace agreement, just not through a false peace.”
In the 4,000-words press release, the FARC condemn the “massacre” that killed their military commander and claim that 30 soldiers were killed and 90 were injured in combat following the air raid.
