The weblog used by the FARC to publish news and editorials over peace talks with the Colombian government was deleted Friday after being hacked.
FARC negotiator “Ivan Marquez” announced the hack in Havana where rebel and government negotiators are gathered to seek a negotiated end to the country’s half-a-century armed conflict.
“The blog and all the information we have been constructing over the past few months, through which we publish our press statements related to the [peace talks] table, has virtually been disappeared,” Marquez told press.
According to the rebel leader, “This is an act that goes against the peace process. It’s an act of war.”
The FARC created the blog half a year ago at the beginning of the peace talks with the government and published written statements and recorded press conferences on the website almost daily.
Marquez said the rebel group would create a new weblog to continue publishing about the ongoing peace talks.
