The FARC offer Ecuadorean adolescents money and cell phones to convince them to join the rebel group, an anonymous Ecuadorean boy told newspaper El Universo.
“I was going to go voluntarily, nobody asked me to. My friend told me they would give us a lot of things there, they’d give us money and a lot of things,” the Ecuadorean newspaper quoted the boy.
The boy said he wants nothing to do with the FARC after two of his friends were killed in an a Colombian air force raid in the southern Colombian department of Nariño, close to the Ecuadorean border.
The FARC, Colombia’s oldest rebel army, are estimated to have between 7,000 and 11,000 members.
