FARC kill 11 soldiers in northeast Colombia attack

The Colombian army said Saturday that FARC rebels have killed 11 soldiers in a guerrilla attack in the northwest of the country.

The attack took place in Arauquita, a municipality bordering Venezuela.

According to an official press release, the soldiers were killed when rebels fired gas cylinders at their patrol.

Caracol Radio reported Sunday morning that authorities had been delayed in removing the bodies from the scene due to explosives.
