Colombia’s largest rebel group FARC is divided in blocks. These blocks consist of fronts that operate from specific regions throughout Colombia.
A front can have between 96 and 300 fighters and is divided in columns (96 fighters), companies (48 fighters), guerrillas (24 fighters) and squads (12 fighters).
Before a military/paramilitary offensive in the second half of the 1990s and the US-backed military offensive in the first ten years of this century, The FARC had more then 80 fronts. This has been reduced to approximately 65.
