Suspected FARC guerrillas detonated dynamite on a bridge connecting two municipalities in Colombia’s southern Caqueta department, reported local media.
The town of San Vicente del Caguan, located some 400km south of Bogota, was completely cut off from the adjacent municipality of Florencia after the attack.
“For the moment the road is blocked as authorities assume control over the situation. There are no wounded, nor deaths, only material damage,” said Luis Eduardo Campo, government secretary of Caqueta.
Authorities blamed FARC’s Teofilo Forero Column for the attack.
Caqueta has traditionally been a hotbed of guerrilla activity. In June, oil company Emerald Energy reported a shutdown in production due to repeated attacks and threats from FARC units.
