Colombian police have claimed a FARC column is behind the killing of five presumed members of the drug trafficking group “Los Rastrojos” in southwest Colombia, reported newspaper El Colombiano Sunday.
The killings occurred Saturday outside a bar in the Colombian port city of Tumaco, when a group of armed men opened “indiscriminate fire,” killing five and wounding another, according to a police statement.
National Police Director Jose Roberto Leon Riaño said the massacre was related to drug trafficking and claimed that the FARC’s “Daniel Aldana” column was a likely perpetrator.
Los Rastrojos and the FARC have frequently clashed in the region, which is considered of strategic importance for armed groups due to its proximity to drug trafficking routes from Colombia’s coca growing regions.
