Police report that the FARC attacked a police station in Cauca, southwest Colombia, in the early hours of Wednesday, laying siege to the building for just under an hour.
The group allegedly used unconventional weapons, with an assortment of machine guns, grenades and bazookas, although there were no injuries and there was only material damage to the police station and over a dozen surrounding properties.
The police said that the attack, which occurred in the village of Patia, was carried out by guerrillas who were crossing the Pan-American Highway in stolen cars, Caracol reported Wednesday.
El Pais reports that some inhabitants sought refuge in the nearby mountains, while the attackers themselves supposedly fled to the regions of Angulo and Bolivar following the siege.
