Colombian singer, actress and noted political commentator Fanny Lu declared her support for President Alvaro Uribe in a Chilean radio interview on Monday.
The Cali-born entertainer, taking a break from her no doubt stressful campaign to be crowned queen of the 2010 Viña del Mar International Song Festival, told listeners that the Colombian president enjoys “profound love” in his country, and that the Colombian people value his “sacrifice, work ethic, and strength,” although she admitted vaguely that he is often “misinterpreted.”
Fanny Lu is best known for her hit songs such as “No Te Pido Flores” and “No Eres Para Mi,” which features Fez from “That ’70s Show” as an ex-boyfriend who doesn’t appreciate her.
While Fanny Lu was singing the latter song live that same day on a television show called “Red Carpet,” her shirt began slipping in the middle of the performance, exposing part of her right breast. The fearless star finished the performance undaunted, showing that she has what it takes to see difficult tasks to the end, a key attribute of anyone who wants to be taken seriously in politics.
