Colombia striker Radamel Falcao is the world’s 17th best soccer player, soccer website Goal.com said Monday.

World’s Best Soccer Players

  1. Lionel Messi
  2. Franck Ribery
  3. Cristiano Ronaldo
  4. Thomas Muller
  5. Arjen Robben
  6. Gareth Bale
  7. Philipp Lahm
  8. Thiago Silva
  9. Arturo Vidal
  10. Robin Van Persie
  11. Bastian Schweinsteiger
  12. Paulinho
  13. Fred
  14. Neymar
  15. Robert Lewandowski
  16. Edinson Cavani
  17. Radamel Falcao
  18. Dante
  19. Andres Iniesta
  20. Burak Yilmaz

In the website’s annual ranking of the world’s best player, Falcao appeared behind players like Argentina’s Lionel Messi, france’s Franck Ribery and Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, but ahead of the likes of Sweden’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Uruguay’s Luis Suarez.

Other Colombians who made it to Goal.com’s 2013 Goal 50 ranking were Jackson Martinez (33) and James Rodriguez (40).

Goal.com elected Messi as last season’s best player because “Messi had a spectacular season and it is incredible to think he has achieved so much by the age of 26. His award this year takes him past Cristiano Ronaldo to a record three Goal 50 titles and recognizes the individual brilliance of a player who is rightly recognized by some as the greatest of all time,” said Graham Shaw, the website’s Editorial Director, in a press release.

The Goal 50 is voted for by editors representing each of the 36 editions of Goal.com around the world, said the website.
