1 dead, 4 injured in south Colombia university explosion

One student died and at least four people were injured in an explosion in the southern Colombian University of Nariño, local media reported Thursday.

University student Andres Arteago Ceballos died from injuries sustained during the blast.

According to reports, the explosion took place Wednesday evening in the Torobajo campus in the city of Pasto.

Police are investigating if the victims were students trying to build potato bombs, El Espectador reported.

RCN Radio reported that the university’s rector is considering suspending all classes until next week because of the accident.
