Herbin Hoyos, host of a radio program for hostages held in Colombia’s jungle, said he will continue his radio broadcasts from exile in Europe, despite receiving death threats.
Hoyos said that this is the sixth time he has fled Colombia after receiving death threats, and said that according to intelligence reports, FARC leader ‘Fabian Ramirez’ is behind the plan to assassinate him.
“I am encouraged because this is the result of conscientious work and that is crushing the hearts of those who do not want peace,” Hoyos told colleagues at Caracol Radio.
“The program will continue, I’m not leaving the country, I am [making a strategic relocation] to protect my life. I want to be a bit distant but physically involved in this process, the program shall continue from Europe,” Hoyos added.
Hoyos show, ‘Voices of kidnapping’ is renowned for its dedication to Colombia’s many hostages. The program allows family members to leave messages for their loved ones held somewhere in the jungle.
