Former Mexican President Vincente Fox says that the violence in Mexico is fueled by the constant supply of drugs from Colombia and Venezuela, newspaper El Espectador reported Tuesday.
Speaking at a university seminar in Santiago, Dominican Republic, Fox said “I am referring to Colombia which continues to produce lots of drugs, and I am referring to Venezuela which continues to facilitate drug trafficking,” said Fox.
The ex-president went on to say, “It seems as if there is an association between Hugo Chavez and the theme of the cartels and drugs.”
Fox and Chavez have had a history of political head-butting, and in 2005 Fox threatened to cut off all diplomatic ties with Venezuela.
Vincente Fox was the president of Mexico from 2000 to 2006.
