The release of FARC hostages should become one of the top priorities of the European Parliament (EP), proposed member of the EP Richard Fall.
In an interview with Caracol Radio on Sunday, Fall said that he is pushing for the EP to provide international support to the cause and he is awaiting “approval of a plan in which the Parliament will have as one of its priorities to push for the release of the Colombian hostages.”
Renata Webber, another member of the parliament, showed her support of the plan, saying that a collaboration between European and Colombian sectors would make release operations and negotiations much easier.
Fall’s announcement came on the same day that the Colombian army succeeded in rescuing four FARC hostages in the department of Guaviare. Amongst those rescued was General Luis Mendieta, who had been held in captivity for twelve years.
