The shootout occurred after two passing vehicles opened fire at an Ecuadorean army patrol trying to inspect the vehicles, ten kilometers outside Nueva Loja, Sucumbios.One unidentified suspect was killed during the exchange of fire, three others were arrested. One of the vans was able to escape.The seized van contained 650 kilograms of presumably cocaine paste, ammunition, FARC-literature, explosives and personal annotations of alleged guerrillas, the Ecuadorean army told Spanish press agency EFE.
