Ecuador finds second diary of ‘Raul Reyes’

Colombia news - Raul Reyes

Ecuador discovered a second diary of slain FARC commander ‘Raul Reyes’, the country’s president Rafael Correa announced Monday.

Ecuador’s Prosecutor General is in possession of the second diary of ‘Raul Reyes’ who will inform the Ecuadorans as quickly as possible “about its content,” Correa said in a live interview with Colombian newscast Noticias Uno.

According to the Ecuadorean President, the diary was found at the FARC camp that was bombed in March 2008 by Colombian military. “Some people discovered [the diary] and they wanted to sell it. But they fought about it and leaked copies to us. This is the story and we need to verify it,” Correa said.

Last week, Ecuador presented the first diary of ‘Raul Reyes’ that allegedly revealed serious allegations against former members of the
Ecuadorean Government and mentions an “alleged” betrayal by President
Rafael Correa. One day later the documents were verified as fake, according to Radio W.

In the interview, Correa reiterated that if Colombian military attacks Ecuadorian territory again, there will be war. “I will not allow my country to be bombed again,” he said.

Colombia and Ecuador have strain
relations since March 2008 when Colombian armed forces attacked an
Ecuadorean camp of Raul Reyes. The relations worsened recently after Colombia published a video wherein FARC commander ‘Mono Jojoy’ confirms the
rebels gave money to the 2006 campaign of Correa.
