Colombia news - Mono Jojoy

The government of Ecuador formed a commission to study the accuracy and
possible consequences of the video wherein FARC commander ‘Mono Jojoy’
confirms Colombian accusation that the guerrillas financially supported the
2006 presidential campaign of Rafael Correa
, who now is President of
Ecuador.

In the video, according to the police found in a raid in May, Jorge ‘Mono Jojoy’ Briceño, one of the FARC’s top commanders, reads a letter from deceased supreme guerrilla commander ‘Manuel Marulanda’ wherein he confirms the rebels financially supported Correa’s presidential campaign and regrets the leaking of documents on the computer of slain FARC commander ‘Raul Reyes’ for …..

The letter was found and leaked by Colombian authorities in October 2008 already, but its authenticity was never verified by independent bodies.

After initially stating the leaking of the video to the media was part of “an aggressive media campaign that wants to link Ecuadorean authorities to the guerrilla,” Ecuador’s Security Minister Miguel Carvajal took place in a committee to “verify the technical aspects [of the video].”

According to Ecuadorean media, the country’s Foreign Minister Fando Falconi, Policy Coordinator Ricardo Patiño and Government Secretary Vinicio Alvarado will also take part in the committee.

President Rafael Correa himself did not respons to the news.
