Dutch quintet Tango Extremo will be playing four concerts in Colombia, showcasing their spectacular style derived from classical Argentine tango and innovative music from the Netherlands.
The group, formed in 2003, has quickly gained international fame and performed in countries across the world, such as China, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Italy, Ireland, the UK, and the tango-motherland of Argentina. At the 2009 Tango Festival in Buenos Aires, one of the most prestigious tango festivals in the world, Tango Extremo was the only non-Argentine ensemble featured at the event.
On their tour, Tango Extremo will be performing pieces from their latest musical project called “Viva la Vida!”
Viva la Vida “is a tribute to love and to life in its strength and its fragility. The happy moments but also the less fortunate. The sun but also the shadow. In other words: life in all its ways.”
Besides typical tango themes, the musical project also includes the bands interpretations of traditional Dutch songs like “Het Dorp” by Jean Ferrat and famous classics like Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake.”
Tango Extremo will be performing in Cali at Teatro Salamandra on October 12 and 13, Medellin at Teatro Pablo Tobon Uribe on October 14, and Bogota at Auditorio Leon de Greiff on October 15.
