Twenty-six members of an international drug smuggling network were arrested in Colombia and the United Kingdom by Colombia’s Anti-Narcotics Unit in conjunction with British authorities, reports El Pais.
The network sent cocaine, heroin and marijuana from Cali’s and Bogota’s international airports to England, Scotland, Spain and the Netherlands.
The drugs were bought from Hilber Nober Urdinola Perea, alias “Don H”, leader of the narco-trafficking group “Los Machos,” in the department of Valle del Cauca and then transported in small quantities hidden in consumer goods, such as tents and sleeping bags.
The drugs, which had purity levels of 90-94%, were allegedly produced in the departments of Cauca and Choco by Alexander Gomez, alias “El Gordo.”
El Gordo was supported by Delmar Walter Muñoz Bravo, alias “El Pastuso,” who recruited low-level assistants, paying them COP1.6 million.
Gomez and Bravo were among eight members of the operation who were arrested in Cali.
