A DNA test proved that semen found on the clothes and body of a 13-year-old girl came from former Lieutenant Raul Muñoz Linares, according to a forensic medical expert.
Muñoz Linares is currently on trial for raping two girls, killing one of them and her two brothers. The other girl, 13, survived the brutal attack and submitted one of the DNA samples.
According to Colombian media, an expert of legal medicine testified in court against Muñoz Linares, asserting that the DNA sample was found to match his genetic profile “in a study that doesn’t leave the smallest doubt.”
The officer has already admitted to having “relations” with the two teenage victims, but the new evidence further implicates him in the crimes, which he claims was committed by guerrilla soldiers.
The lawyer of Muñoz Linares has asked to include the testimony of a demobilized guerrilla who claims he witnessed three other guerrilla soldiers rape and murder the children.
The Army lieutenant has been charged with aggravated murder, violent sexual intercourse and carnal abuse of a minor under the age of 14 years.
There is enough evidence against Muñoz Linares to convict him of all three charges, said Prosecutor Victor Julio Lozano, requesting that he receive the maximum sentence of 60 years in prison.
