Foreign delegations have begun to arrive in Bogota for the inauguration of President Juan Manuel Santos on Thursday, according to a president’s press release.
Officials from all around the globe will be attending the inauguration of President Santos’s second term from 2014 to 2018.
The delegations are comprised of presidents, vice-presidents, and ministers from 73 countries, reported El Tiempo.
The president of the Development Bank of Latin America, Enrique Garcia was among the first to arrive Monday. On Tuesday, the King of Spain Juan Carlos arrived and will have a private meeting with President Santos, according to Colombia’s Caracol Radio.
President Luis Alberto Moreno of the Inter-American Development Bank and the secretary general of the Organization of American States, Luis Alberto Moreno, will also attend the inauguration.
As of Wednesday morning, the only US representative confirmed to attend Santos’s inauguration is the Ambassador of the United States to Colombia, Kevin Whitaker.

- European Union – President of European Council Hernan Van Rompuy
- Ecuador – President Rafael Correa
- Venezuela – President Nicolas Maduro
- Peru – President Ollanta Humala
Argentina, Qatar, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Italy, Israel, Palestine, Canada, Japan, and Portugal, among other countries, will also be sending delegations.
