Colombia’s crude oil output in December rose 12.2% from the year before to an average of 825,000 barrels per day, government oil-licensing agency ANH said Wednesday.
For the full year 2010, output reached 785,000 barrels per day, the highest since 1999 and 17% higher than 2009’s production of 671,000 barrels a day.
November output was revised by the ANH to 821,000 barrels per day from its previous estimate of 818,000 barrels.
State oil company Ecopetrol SA and its partner companies reached an average production in December of 734,000 barrels a day, a 10.4% increase from a year earlier. Output by companies operating through licensing agreements was 91,000 barrels a day, ANH said.
Colombia has seen massive inflows of foreign investment to develop its oil and natural gas industries as a result of the government’s market-friendly policies and its success in gaining control of territory once held by Marxist guerrillas.
