Cucuta Deportivo are the eighth and final team to secure a spot in the next round of the Colombian Liga Postobon.
Cucuta began the day in eighth position and had everything in their own hands as a win at Real Cartagena was enough to advance to the group phase. In any other case, several other teams were ready to take advantage.
Almost an hour had been played in Cartagena when Wilson Carpintero handed Cucuta a 2-0 lead. In added time, Roberto Polo made it 2-0 from the penalty spot.
As such, the results in the other matches no longer mattered. Deportivo Cali won 3-0 at La Equidad and America de Cali beat Boyaca Chico 4-0, but the next round remained out of reach for these two teams.
The next round consists of Deportes Tolima and Once Caldas, who get the seeded spots in the two groups, as well as Santa Fe, Atletico Nacional, Deportes Quindio, Atletico Huila, Cucuta Deportivo and La Equidad.
