Court reviews case against retired general

Colombia’s Supreme Court will review the case against retired army
general Rito Alejo del Rio, who’s suspected of having had ties with
paramilitary and the murder on unionists in 2004.

The Attorney General had requested a re-opening of the case against the former military commander after new evidence possibly could lead to the conviction of the general.

The high court will examine recent confessions by paramilitaries about the general. Depending on the content of the investigations, the court may re-open the case against del Rio.
