The Colombian Supreme Court denied the former president’s request to view the files in the case against Piedad Cordoba Friday, reported the Colombian media.
The lawyers of Alvaro Uribe solicited the Registry of the Supreme Court for a copy of the files June 16.
According to Noticias Sin, Uribe intended to use the information to support a petition for his consideration as victim of “FARC-politics.” If the petition is approved, the former Colombian president can use his status as a victim in his defense in the trial against him.
Piedad Cordoba is accused of collaborating with the FARC during her tenure as senator and hostage negotiator with left-wing guerilla organizations.
The court announced that the former president cannot access the file because it is a reserved procedural item, reported Caracol Radio.
