Colombia’s Supreme Court will not allow captured FARC guerrilla ‘Martin
Sombra’ — known as the guerrillas’ “jailer” — to be extradited to the
United States. According to the high court’s ruling, the rebel
committed no border crossing crimes.
The United States want to try the Colombian guerrilla for his alleged responsibility in the captivity of three U.S. military contractors, who were held in the Colombian jungle for more than six years.
‘Martin Sombra’, whose real name if Heli Mejia Mendoza, spent 40 years of his life in the ranks for the guerrillas and managed several FARC prisoner camps. He was arrested in February 2008.
