Court: Afro-Colombians need specialized healthcare

Colombia’s Constitutional Court ordered the Congress Monday to provide culturally appropriate healthcare services to communities of African descent.

Like indigenous communities, communities of African descent have a constitutional right to self-controlled and organized healthcare services, reported Caracol Radio.

The Court added Congress is obligated to provide health services for indigenous communities and other ethnic groups in the country, such as “blacks” and tribal groups known as “gitanos”.
