Irregularities in the recruitment and contract process within various Bogota district departments has incurred the investigation of seventeen Bogota city councilors, local media reported Friday.
The prosecution will look to establish whether lobbyists unduly influenced district contracts with entities such as Bogota’s Ministry of Health and the water and sewage company, amongst others, reported El Espectador.
“These 17 councilors may have had, amongst other criminal conduct, disciplinary irregularities, undue interest in the conclusion of contracts or influence in trading, because they could participate in the recruitment process awarded to various districts. They must give an explanation of the facts that implicate them”, reads the indictment.
The document also allegedly implicated the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Mobility, sewage and water supply company and the company of urban renewal, among other unnamed entities, as being involved in the district’s shady recruitment operations.
The councilors, both former and current, being investigated are: Andres Camacho, Antonio Sanguino, Edgar Torrado, Fernando Lopez, Fernando Rojas, Henry Castro, Hipolito Moreno, Javier Palacio, Jorge Durán, Omar Mejia, Orlando Parada, Rafael Escruceria, Severo Correa, Wilson Duarte, Jorge Salamanca, Ivan Rodriguez and Julio Cesar Acosta.
