Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos said Monday he would convene Colombia’s Congress in an extraordinary session to discuss the country’s troubled justice reform bill.
Santos said that Congress would be convened on June 27 and 28, in a mesage posted on the presidential website.
The president sent a controversial justice reform bill back to congress Thursday because it did “not favor justice and transparency,” he said. The legal reform was widely criticized because of the addition of several last minute changes that included potentially allowing public officials convicted of crimes to continue in their positions.
