Eight Colombian companies signed an agreement on Tuesday to effectively include underrepresented communities and ethnic minorities, according to an official statement on the US embassy website.
The initiative is the result of the Joint Action Plan to promote racial and ethnic equality, signed on January 12 between the governments of Colombia and the United States.
The Colombian directors of the private companies declared their commitment to promote equality at the workplace regarding ethnicity, gender and disability.
The statement was signed by representatives of the companies Alpina, Baker & Machenzie, Chubb de Colombia, Colombia Kimberly Colpapel, General Electric, Organizacion Corona, Pfizer, and Unisys.
The initiative is led by the Pan American Development Foundation (PADAF) and Colombia’s American Chamber of Commerce.
The government of the United States initially supported this project with $100,000.
