Colombia’s Vice President Angelino Garzon condemned the murderers of five innocent people, including a 5-year-old girl, in the town of San Miguel near the border with Ecuador, according to a press release on the presidential website Monday.
Garzon asked the authorities to “promptly initiate investigations and determine the facts and for the community to deliver the information needed to find, prosecute and punish those responsible for the heinous murders.”
An unidentified armed group entered a farm in the department of Putamayo Friday and beheaded and shot family members of the farm’s proprietors, killing Luz Marina Roa, 59, her daughter Mary Roa, 35, and her granddaughter Sarit Yulieth Alfonso, 5. The perpetrators also murdered farm workers Jose Erazo Benavides and Florencio Jose Palacios.
The vice president spoke out against these violent acts and said that organized crime is responsible for the deaths of innocent people.
Although several armed groups are active in the area, local police said they do not know who is responsible for the murder.
