Colombia’s tourism officials and leaders from Proexport, the entity in charge of promoting Colombian products and tourism, meet to develop the 2012 international tourism plan.
Until December 2, representatives from across the tourism industry will be meeting and evaluating the principle markets affecting tourism in Colombia’s major cities, in order to define the upcoming year’s strategy for promoting Colombia abroad.
During the conference there will be workshops that develop the plan by selecting specific products and services from each region to promote, and choosing the most appropriate tools for marketing Colombia’s various departments to visitors.
Participants include employees from hotel chains, travel agencies, members of the Colombian government and Institute of District Tourism (IDT), and many others involved in the growing sector.
The meet-up began in Colombia’s capital, and has already passed through Pereira, Cali, Santa Marta, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Medellin, and Bucaramanga. The traveling conference will finish at the beginning of next month in San Andres.
In 2010, 1,474,885 international visitors came to Colombia, according to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism.
