Classes at the National University of Colombia will be suspended on Thursday May 29, due to the discovery of explosive materials within the campus, according to local media.
The Vice Chancellor of the National University, Diego Hernandez said on Wednesday that explosive material as well as flyers and propaganda linked to the armed group had been found within the university.
Hernandez said that the same situation has arisen in the past three weeks, affecting about 50,000 people daily who were active on the campus.
“These are college students who use the institution to disturb public order and camouflage themselves among students.We have increased the number of security cameras but they always damage them, and that’s why we have called for greater cooperation from the authorities,” Hernandez said.
The Vice Chancellor of the National University said that in the coming days he will meet with the District Secretary of Government and the police to prevent further such actions affecting the academic activities of the institution.
