The National Library of Colombia, the oldest public library in Latin America, opened its doors for free on Wednesday to celebrate its 234th anniversary.
The library was officially founded by Francisco Moreno y Escandon on January 9, 1777, as the Royal Public Library of Santafe De Bogota.
Its building was designed by architect Alberto Wills Ferro.
Nowadays, the library functions as Colombia’s national archive.
