Colombia midfielder Juan Cuadrado has agreed to stay with his club, Italy’s Seria A side Fiorentina, until 2019, the player confirmed Friday.

Fiorentina have yet to confirm the news although it has been widely reported in Italy that Cuadrado put pen to paper after meeting club bosses on Friday.

Cuadrado later took to Facebook and Twitter to thank his agent and the Della Valle family which owns the Florence-based club: “I’m happy to have extended my contract.”

“I would like to thank my agent Alessandro Lucci, the Della Valle family, the whole club and in particular the President Cognini. Forza Viola!”

Media reports claim Cuadrado, who had been linked with a possible move to Chelsea and Manchester United, will earn $3.2 million a year and that his contract includes a buyout clause of $44 million.

Fiorentina, who finished fourth in Serie A last season to secure direct qualification for the Europa League, are languishing in the lower half of the league, having won just twice in their opening seven games.
