Colombia striker Radamel Falcao has admitted to defrauding Spain’s tax authorities when playing for soccer side Atletico Madrid and has begun paying the $9.4 million he owes the Spanish treasury, Spanish daily El Mundo reported.
According to the newspaper, Falcao has already paid $8.5 million to the Spanish tax agency for the tax evasion the striker had admitted to.
Falcao was initially accused of owing $6.2 million to the Spanish State, which he is now paying back with interest, El Mundo reported.

Additionally, Falcao was accused of a second tax fraud for creating “opaque” businesses in Colombia and the Virgin Islands while residing in Spain, effectively evading more taxes than initially reported.
Falcao lived in Spain when playing for Atletico Madrid in 2012 and 2013.
The player, currently playing for French side Monaco, made no public comments on the fraud.
