Colombian outgoing police chief Oscar Naranjo announced Tuesday that he will become external security adviser for the Inter-American Development Bank.
Naranjo said he will be working from the United States and Mexico next month.
“I am leaving the police because I believe in institutionalism and this is vital. But I want the people to know that we never lied, because we had the best intentions,” Naranjo said at his resignation speech.
The widely-praised Naranjo left his post as national police chief after five years of service will be succeeded by his deputy, Jose Roberto Leon Riaño.
