A lawsuit that sought to annul a ruling that deemed the election of Colombia’s former prosecutor general unconstitutional was dropped Thursday.
Viviane Morales was elected prosecutor general in 2010, but was forced to step down after a court labeled her election unconstitutional as she needed a minimum of 16 votes out of 23 from the courts judges while she only received 12 due to the absence of a number of judges during the vote.
In response, a Colombian citizen sought to annul this ruling.
According to the State Council however, the citizen, whose identity was not revealed by local media, had no right to appeal the decision as he was not directly involved in the case.
The plaintiff has three days to appeal the decision.
