Colombia’s capital, Bogota, will continue to extend the night time curfew to 6AM for bars and clubs after experiencing positive results from the trail run which began last week, according to local media.
Bogota’s Mayor Gustavo Petro decided to indefinitely continue the trail of extending the capital’s night life to 6AM, after a meeting between Petro and his Security Council, along with the evaluation of the trail period results that started on Monday.
The curfew extension will be permanent if businesses continue to abide to conditions set by the Mayor’s office and if the security situations continues to improve. There were zero homicides for three days during the trail period of extended party hours, according to El Espectador newspaper.

Ten sectors in six localities will be able to continue to operate until the early morning if they continue to meet all the requirements of the Mayor’s office such as security, transport, and quality of liquor.
“We evaluate the extension and it will be permanent depending on the security of the people, quality of liquor, employment, hopefully of some artistic value, along with secure transport and taxis. Additionally, the level of noise of the establishments should decrease,” stated Petro according to Caracol Radio.
Zones with extended opening hours
According to data from the capital district, homicides on Friday decreased 50% compared to the same day in 2013. On Saturday, only eight fights and three injuries were reported with no traffic accidents, according to Caracol Radio.
