Colombian Vice President Angelino Garzon’s health has been in decline following a stroke he suffered in June, according to a report by RCN Radio.
The complexity of the vice president’s condition means the final consequences of his stroke are yet unknown, according to one of Garzon’s doctors, who wished to remain anonymous. He revealed that Garzon is currently facing impaired vision and movement, speech disorder, and partial paralysis of his arm and leg.
The source also said that Garzon could potentially suffer another stroke, due to his delicate condition.
The vice president was initiially hospitalized on June 14 for a prostate infection. While in hospital, doctors noted cerebrovascular complications and Garzon was moved to an intensive care unit.
On June 25, he awoke from an induced coma and was later taken off respiratory support.
The vice president was released from hospital July 10 after signs of recovery, but his health worsened soon after.
The 65-year-old former union leader came to power in 2010 on the same ticket as current President Juan Manuel Santos.
