British police arrested a 15-year-old British boy for stabbing and killing a Colombian student in London, international media reported Wednesday.
The minor will appear before a criminal court in London Thursday to face murder charges. Another 15-year-old remains in custody, while two more suspects, aged 16 and 19, have been released on bail.
Steven Grisales, a 21-year-old Colombian, died August 31 from injuries reportedly sustained in a fight with the group of young people in Edmonton, in north London.
The Colombian was walking to a nearby train station when he was intercepted by the group, who began to throw chestnuts at him. When Grisales confronted the group, they allegedly attacked and he was stabbed in the chest.
Grisales had arrived in London in July to study architecture at Westminster College, reported Caracol Radio.
“We need anyone who has seen what happened to tell us, because Steven has lost his life unnecessarily,” said the detective in charge of the investigation, Richard Beadle. “It’s really sad for everyone when something so trivial ends in the death of a young man.”
“This was totally, totally unnecessary,” he said.
