A graphic video uploaded to website YouTube on Sunday shows Colombian policemen torturing a dog.
According to the person who uploaded the video, the film was shared on social media website Facebook before being uploaded to YouTube.
The video shows two policemen digging a hole – apparently to bury the dog – and torturing the animal with a spade and rope. At least one more policeman is seen in the video.
According to newspaper El Tiempo, Colombia’s highest police official, General Oscar Naranjo, promised an animal rights group that he would investigate the torture and take measures.

National Police director Oscar Naranjo told W Radio that the video is from 2009 and that one of the three officers have already been identified. According to Naranjo, the policemen will be fired.

National Police director Oscar Naranjo told Caracol Radio that one police officer has been dismissed and is being transported to Bogota for a disciplinary hearing.
The National Police cannot take any action against the other two individuals in the video because they are no longer with the National Police according to the director.
Naranjo said that an investigation is underway to find any other individuals that may be involved in the video.
The director of National Police will meet Monday afternoon with animal rights activists to discuss the video.
