Colombian police captured eight gang members accused of farmland theft and the rape of 11 women in northern Colombia, said local media Thursday.
The gang, known as “Mountain Law”, were captured after residents complained of hooded gunmen committing assault and rape in Colombia’s northern Bolivar department.
Police, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Institute of Legal Medicine began a coordinated investigation in February 2011 when two alleged members of the group were caught in possession of stolen weapons and goods.
Raids were carried out simultaneously in several cities across the department. The eight men have been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated theft and rape.
