Colombia’s peso rose to the
strongest in a month as the price of oil, the nation’s top
export, gained for the first time in almost a week and pushed
above $60 per barrel.
The peso increased 1.3 percent to 2,021.94 per U.S. dollar
at 9:56 a.m. New York time, from 2,047.26 yesterday. It touched
2,017, its strongest since June 16.
The yield on Colombia’s 11 percent bonds due in July 2020
slid five basis points, or 0.05 percentage point, to 9.07
percent. The bond’s price climbed 0.333 centavo to 113.096
centavos per peso, according to Colombia’s stock exchange. (Bloomberg)
