The English Premier League of soccer will welcome another Colombian player for the second half of this season as goalkeeper David Gonzalez joins fifth-placed Manchester City.
The 27-year-old was out of contract after a stint at Argentinian outfit Huracan, which means that there is no transfer fee for Manchester City to pay.
The Medellin-born keeper began his career at home town club Independiente Medellin in 2002, and has since represented Deportivo Cali and Turkish side Çaikur Rizespor.
In August last year, Gonzalez spent a short time on trial at Manchester City, which appears to have left a sufficiently positive impression on the club’s board and manager.
At City, Gonzalez will likely function as back-up to first-choice goalkeeper Shay Given.
