The Goya awards, a prestigious film awards ceremony known as the Spanish equivalent of the American Academy Awards, nominated Colombian film “La Playa D.C.” for best Latinamerican film of 2012 Monday.
Colombian director Juan Andres Arango’s made a noticeable debut with his film “The Beach DC,” a story of a young African Colombian on his journey to Bogota, made the illustrious list of 13 nominees for the Goya title of Best Latinamerican film of 2012.
The announcement was made at the Huelva Latin American film festival this past weekend in Huelva, Spain.
“The Beach” is among other well-done Latinamerican cinema such as “Fisherman,” and “Muddled” representing other South American nations such as Ecuador, Paraguay and Brazil, newspaper El Espectador reported.
The Goya award show will be broadcasted on February 10, 2013 on Sunday night, showcasing the best of Spanish film in the past year.
