Colombia extradited a former military lawyer to the U.S., for his participation in leaking important information to criminal organizations, reports El Tiempo.
The former lawyer, Ramiro Antury, was transferred to Bogota on Saturday, January 15, before being sent to the U.S. Wednesday on a DEA plane. Artury had been considered as one of the most experienced prosecutors in the fight against mafia and other illegal groups.
He was detained in February 2010, at the request of the U.S., for having disseminated key information to the “Comba” brothers, who are the leaders of “Los Rastrojos,” and the narco-trafficking group “Clan Montaña.” In doing so he helped them to avoid capture and prosecution in return for a reported bribe of around $150,000 a month.
