Colombian January crude oil production shows a 12% increase on the previous year, reported local media.
Despite a number of electrical, operational, and transportation issues in oil fields throughout Colombia, the Ministry of Mines and Energy announced that in January of 2012 average oil production in Colombia had reached 941,000 barrels per day.
This represents a 12% increase from the average 840,000 barrels a day reported in January 2011.
The Colombian government continues to work towards its goal of a one million barrels per day average.
Colombian natural gas production has dropped however, from January 2011’s 1,068 million cubic feet per day (MCFD) to January 2012’s 990 MCFD.
The sale of natural gas dropped by 31.4 MCFD between December and January, partly due to rough conditions on the Magdalena river that restricted transport on the Promigas gas pipeline, and partly due to an increased use of thermal generation instead of hydropower for electricity production.
