Colombian cemeteries will have to be more environmentally friendly and more accessible to the public, the country’s Social Welfare Ministry announced.
The Ministry gave a year term to the cemeteries to comply with new rules about the protection of the environment.
Cemeteries are no longer allowed to be located in lands prone to flooding or landslides and must be located away from industrialist centers, commercial centers, markets,
residential areas, playgrounds and schools.
Dark cemeteries with gloomy scenarios thought for Dracula movies
are no longer allowed in Colombia either. They have to have a deposit of water
to keep tombs and gardens cleans, enough natural and artificial light,
airiness to avoid the accumulation of odors, excellent access roads and
public services for the alive, of course.
